Pastoral Letter - 5th Week of July 2022
Dear Friends in Christ,
Warm greetings in Christ! Yes, we are in the midst of the warm summer months. For most of us, the summer months never seem to quite last long enough, especially for students on break from classes, or others who enjoy long walks on the beach during vacation. Life is never meant to be lived in fast forward without pausing for times of refreshing and relaxation, so I believe it is important to find a way somehow to take a break when you can.
Even Jesus Himself took time to get away from the people for rest and fellowship with His Father so it would seem this would be an example we should follow. Summer months are still on and many of our families are still looking forward to their vacations as they pack up and head to various areas of the country. While there are many who tend to just enjoy being stay-at-homes, many do enjoy getting away if at all possible.
The summer months can be a bit challenging for churches at times as the bills continue to arrive and must be paid. We are always thrilled to be able to pay the bills on time. This helps us keep a good witness in our local community! Thank you for your kind donation to our church, especially during summer months. Your financial assistance helps us carry out the programs, services, and activities we offer to lead others to Christ and meet spiritual needs of those around us.
While we here at Saint Rose of Lima Church meet on a weekly basis for service, we would like to encourage you to remember us both in your prayers as you ask God to move in special ways during the Mass services, and of course, we ask that you remain faithful and consistent in your stewardship and giving. Please know that we do not take for granted either your prayers or your giving! 2 Corinthians 9:7 says this: “Each must do as already determined, without sadness or compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
A man on vacation was strolling along outside his hotel. Suddenly, he was attracted by the screams of a woman kneeling in front of a child. The man knew enough to determine that the child had swallowed a coin. Seizing the child by the heels, the man held him up, gave him a few shakes, and a quarter dropped to the sidewalk. “Oh, thank you sir!” cried the woman. “You seemed to know just how to get it out of him. Are you a doctor?” “No, ma’am,” replied the man. “I’m with the Internal Revenue Service.”
It is understandable to be unenthusiastic about paying taxes, but when it comes to giving to the Lord, we should have a joyful spirit. After all, He has given us every good thing we have.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Romans 15:13). We trust you continue to enjoy an amazing summer and we look forward to seeing you in church as much as possible! Rest assured, we are here to serve you and we trust God will continue to richly bless you as you serve Him.

Queridos amigos en Cristo,
¡Saludos cordiales en Cristo! Sí, estamos en medio de los calurosos meses de verano. Para la mayoría de nosotros, los meses de verano nunca parecen durar lo suficiente, especialmente para los estudiantes que descansan de clases u otros que disfrutan de largos paseos por la playa durante las vacaciones. La vida nunca está destinada a ser vivida en avance rápido sin hacer pausas para refrescarse y relajarse, por lo que creo que es importante encontrar una manera de tomar un descanso cuando pueda.
Incluso Jesús mismo se tomó el tiempo para alejarse de la gente para descansar y tener comunión con su Padre, por lo que parecería que este sería un ejemplo que deberíamos seguir. Los meses de verano todavía están en marcha y muchas de nuestras familias todavía esperan con ansias sus vacaciones mientras empacan y se dirigen a varias áreas del país. Si bien hay muchos que tienden a disfrutar simplemente de quedarse en casa, muchos disfrutan escaparse si es posible.
Los meses de verano pueden ser un poco desafiantes para las iglesias a veces, ya que las facturas continúan llegando y deben pagarse. Siempre estamos encantados de poder pagar las facturas a tiempo. ¡Esto nos ayuda a mantener un buen testimonio en nuestra comunidad local! Gracias por su amable donación a nuestra iglesia, especialmente durante los meses de verano. Su asistencia financiera nos ayuda a llevar a cabo los programas, servicios y actividades que ofrecemos para guiar a otros a Cristo y satisfacer las necesidades espirituales de quienes nos rodean.
Si bien aquí en la Iglesia de Santa Rosa de Lima nos reunimos semanalmente para el servicio, nos gustaría alentarlo a que nos recuerde a ambos en sus oraciones mientras le pide a Dios que se mueva de manera especial durante los servicios de Misa y, por supuesto, le pedimos que permanezcas fiel y consistente en tu mayordomía y generosidad. ¡Tenga en cuenta que tomamos en cuenta con agradecimiento sus oraciones ni sus donaciones! 2 Corintios 9:7 dice esto: “Cada uno debe dar según lo que haya decidido en su corazón, y no de mala gana o a la fuerza, porque Dios ama al que da con alegría.”
Un hombre de vacaciones paseaba frente a su hotel. De repente, se sintió atraído por los gritos de una mujer arrodillada frente a un niño. El hombre sabía lo suficiente para determinar que el niño se había tragado una moneda. Agarrando al niño por los talones, el hombre lo levantó, le dio unas cuantas sacudidas y una cuarta parte cayó a la acera. “¡Oh, gracias señor!” gritó la mujer. “Parecías saber cómo sacárselo. ¿Eres un doctor?" “No, señora,” respondió el hombre. “Estoy con el Servicio de Impuestos Internos.”
Es comprensible que no se entusiasme con el pago de impuestos, pero cuando se trata de dar al Señor, debemos tener un espíritu alegre. Después de todo, Él nos ha dado todo lo bueno que tenemos.
“Que Dios, que da esperanza, los llene de alegría y paz a ustedes que tienen fe en él, y les dé abundante esperanza por el poder del Espíritu Santo” (Romanos 15:13). ¡Confiamos en que continúe disfrutando de un verano increíble y esperamos verlo en la iglesia tanto como sea posible!
