Do This in Memory of Me

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

This Sunday we celebrate the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, also known as Corpus Christi Sunday. It is important to notice that this year, we are focusing on the Eucharistic Revival at the Parish level.

Originally proposed as a feast day by St. Thomas Aquinas, this liturgical solemnity honors the Eucharist, reminding all to recognize that it is the True Presence: The Body and Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Christ.

Throughout our lives, if we were raised Catholic, we were taught reverence for the Eucharist. But reverence is not enough. Most Catholics revere the Eucharist, meaning, we genuflect, kneel, and treat the Sacred Host with respect. But it’s important to ponder a question in our heart: Do you believe the Eucharist is God Almighty, the Savior of the world, the second Person of the Most Holy Trinity?

“Since Christ Himself has said, ‘This is My Body,’ who shall dare to doubt that it is His Body?”

- St. Cyril of Jerusalem

We worship the Lord in the Holy Eucharist through different ways:

Celebration of the Holy Eucharist

Participating in the celebration of the Holy Mass is not just an obligation. Together with the angels and saints, we worship the Lord. In our parish, we have Holy Mass every day at 8:15 a.m. and celebrate five Masses on weekends. How many churches do we have in this Houston area, in the USA, in the world? Is there any excuse for missing Mass? “If angels could be jealous of men, they would be so for one reason: Holy Communion.” - St. Maximilian Kolbe

Eucharistic Adoration

St. Padre Pio says, “A thousand years of enjoying human glory is not worth even an hour spent sweetly communing with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.” Every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. we have Eucharistic Adoration in our church.

Church Visit

Even when there is no Holy Mass or Eucharistic Adoration, the church is kept open from morning till evening. We can come and pray some time in front of the Tabernacle. St. John Vianney says, “I throw myself at the foot of the Tabernacle like a dog at the foot of his Master.”

Dear brothers and sisters, during this time of the Eucharistic Revival, let us try to strengthen our relationship with God through the Holy Eucharist.

God Bless you all,

Fr. John Samuel
