Dear Friends in Christ,
Communion is a special time to get a taste of Heaven! When we start the Communion Rite, it’s like stepping into a moment where Jesus has already won the victory over sin and death. Imagine a perfect world where everyone lives together in complete peace and unity. That’s the kind of wonderful atmosphere the Communion Rite brings us into – a joyful heavenly celebration called the “wedding banquet of the Lamb.” Now, who is this “Lamb?” It’s Jesus himself, often called the “Lamb of God.” He once described heaven as a grand feast, and the Bible’s Book of Revelation compares it to a wedding banquet, with the church being symbolized as the bride of Jesus.
When we say “Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb,” we’re recognizing that we’re already part of this incredible heavenly party. The Communion Rite gives us a sneak peek at this amazing celebration to come. It’s like getting a little taste of what heaven will be like. But in our daily lives now, we haven’t fully arrived in that perfect heavenly state yet. We’re in a temporary waiting period, excitedly anticipating the big, glorious event.
The most important part of communion is the belief that Jesus himself is truly present with us, both personally and together as a community. We become one with Him and with each other, just as we all will be united in Heaven. For those special moments after receiving communion, when we’ve all shared in Jesus together, we experience complete oneness.
During communion, all we feel is the “peace and unity” of God’s kingdom. It’s like a preview of the heavenly wedding banquet.
As we move into the Communion Rite, the priest invites us to pray the Lord’s Prayer together. Every request in this prayer is about Jesus coming again in all His glory. We’ll celebrate and witness His victory at the wedding banquet, where everyone will rejoice in the unity of Jesus with His church.
At this heavenly banquet, we’ll see amazing things: Every person will know and love God; God’s perfect kingdom will be present, and everyone will gladly follow His will, just like in heaven; God will provide us with everything we need, just like Jesus as the Bread of Life bringing total fulfillment; We will all forgive each other completely, just as God forgives us.
Throughout the Communion Rite, we emphasize the importance of “peace.” We ask for peace, greet each other with peace, and long for the peace and unity that aligns with God’s desires. We even declare “The peace of the Lord be with you always,” and share a sign of peace.
This sign of peace is like a message from the future, a glimpse of the time when Jesus’ victory will be fully realized. When we hug or shake hands before receiving communion, we’re not necessarily saying everything is perfect between us right now. Sometimes it may even feel forced. But we’re expressing our belief and desire for complete healing in our relationships, both here and in heaven, now and forever. We want to be fully reconciled with everyone. And for what we can’t accomplish alone currently, we ask Jesus, the “Lamb of God,” to make it happen because we trust He “takes away the sins of the world.” With confidence, we pray “Grant us peace.”

Queridos amigos en Cristo,
La comunión es el momento preciso para sentir la ricura del cielo! al empezar el Rito de la Comunión. Esto es como entrar en el momento en el que Jesús ya triunfó sobre el pecado y la muerte. Imagínense un mundo en el cual todos vivimos juntos en perfecta paz y unidad. Este es el ambiente en el que participamos durante el Rito de la Comunión; un gran festejo que le llamamos “banquete de bodas del Cordero”. Ahora, hablemos de este Cordero. Este el mismo Jesús, a quien a menudo nos referimos como el “Cordero de Dios”. Dios describió al cielo como una gran fiesta. Y el libro del Apocalipsis lo compara con un banquete de bodas, en la cual la iglesia simboliza la novia de Jesús.
Lo más crucial de la comunión es que creamos que Jesús está verdaderamente presente con nosotros, individualmente y con todos. Nos convertimos uno con Él y también entre nosotros, igual como lo haremos en el cielo. En esos preciosos momentos después de recibir la comunión, cuando todos hemos compartido en Jesús, vivimos una unidad completa. En estos momentos no hay que discutir, no hay que aprovecharnos los unos de los otros, y no hay que guardar rencores, aunque estos mismos sentimientos pueden resurgir más tarde. Durante la comunión, todo lo que sentimos es la “paz y unidad” del reino de Dios. Es como un anticipo del banquete de bodas del Cordero.
Al acercarnos al Rito de la Comunión, el sacerdote nos invita a rezar juntos el Padre Nuestro. Cada petición que hacemos en esta oración es sobre la segunda venida de Jesús en toda su gloria. Celebraremos y seremos testigos de Su victoria en el banquete de bodas del Cordero, donde todos nos reunimos para regocijar en el matrimonio de Jesús y Su iglesia.
En este banquete celestial, seremos testigos de cosas increíbles: Cada uno de nosotros en el mundo conocerá y amará a Dios; El reino de Dios estará plenamente presente, y todos en la Tierra unirán su voluntad con la de Dios, tal como lo es en el cielo; Dios nos dará todo lo que necesitemos, como Jesús, que es el Pan de Vida, nos llenará de felicidad en esta gran celebración. Todos nos perdonaremos mutuamente, así como Dios nos perdona a nosotros. Para participar en este Pan celestial, debemos unirnos en paz y unidad. Esto significa el perdón completo entre nosotros.
Durante el Rito de la Comunión, recalcamos la importancia de la “paz”. Pedimos paz, nos saludamos con paz y anhelamos que la paz y la unidad se unan con el corazón de Dios. Por eso proclamamos: “La paz del Señor esté siempre con ustedes”, y compartimos el signo de paz entre nosotros.
El signo de paz es como un mensaje del futuro, una ojeada a un tiempo en el futuro en el que la victoria de Jesús se realiza plenamente. Estamos declarando que queremos reconciliarnos plenamente con todos, tanto aquí en la tierra como en el cielo, ahora y para siempre. Todos queremos esto. Y por lo que no podemos lograr por nuestra cuenta en este momento, le pedimos a Jesús, el “Cordero de Dios”, que lo haga realidad porque confiamos en que Él “quita los pecados del mundo”. Así que, con confianza, oramos: “Concédenos la paz”.
