Dear Friends in Christ,
This month’s pastoral letter will focus on how the Church keeps God’s message alive. Imagine you’re part of a huge family that stretches back thousands of years. This family has an amazing story to tell – a story about God’s love for all of us. That’s what the Catholic Church is like. We’re all part of God’s family, and we have an important job: to keep God’s message alive and share it with everyone.
So, how does the Church do this? Let’s break it down:
1. The Bible: Think of the Bible as a love letter from God. It’s full of stories, lessons, and truths that help us understand God’s love and how to live good lives. When we read the Bible, we’re hearing God speak to us directly. Try reading a short Bible passage each day, like at breakfast. Even a few verses can give you something to think about all day.
2. Tradition: This isn’t just about old customs. Church Tradition is like a living stream of wisdom that flows from Jesus and the apostles all the way to us today. It helps us understand the Bible and live out our faith in today’s world. For instance, when we celebrate Mass, we’re taking part in a tradition that goes back to Jesus and the Last Supper. It connects us to Christians across time and space.
3. The Church’s Teaching: The Pope and bishops have a special role in helping us understand God’s message. They’re like tour guides, helping us navigate our faith journey and avoid wrong turns. When the Pope speaks about caring for the environment or helping the poor, he’s showing us how to apply our faith to real-world issues.
So, the Bible, Tradition, and the Church’s teachings work together like three legs of a stool. They support each other and give us a stable foundation for our faith. But this isn’t just about learning facts. God’s message is meant to change our lives and help us become better people. Here are some ways we can live it out:
1. Love in Action: God’s message is all about love. We can show this love by helping others, whether it’s volunteering at a food bank, visiting a lonely neighbor, or simply being kind to someone having a bad day.
2. Prayer and Reflection: Take time each day to talk to God. It doesn’t have to be long or fancy. Just share your thoughts and listen for God’s guidance in your heart.
3. Community: Being part of a church community helps us grow in faith. Attend Mass, join a Bible study group, or participate in parish activities. We’re not meant to go on this journey alone!
4. Forgiveness: God’s love is all about forgiveness. Practice forgiving others and asking for forgiveness when you make mistakes. It’s not always easy, but it’s a powerful way to live out God’s message.
5. Sharing the Good News: Don’t be afraid to talk about your faith with others. Share how God’s love has made a difference in your life. Sometimes, your actions will speak louder than words.
6. Lifelong Learning: Our understanding of God’s message can always grow deeper. Keep learning about your faith through books, classes, or online resources. The more we learn, the more we can appreciate God’s amazing love.
7. Care for Creation: God made this beautiful world, and we’re meant to take care of it. Simple acts like recycling, conserving energy, or appreciating nature can be ways of honoring God’s creation.
Remember, living out God’s message isn’t about being perfect. It’s about trying our best each day to love God and others. We might make mistakes, but God’s love is always there to pick us up and help us keep going.
By keeping God’s message alive in these ways, we become part of something bigger than ourselves. We join countless others, past and present, in sharing the greatest story ever told – the story of God’s endless love for all people. And that’s a pretty amazing thing to be part of!

Queridos amigos en Cristo,
La carta pastoral de este mes se centrará en cómo la Iglesia mantiene vivo el mensaje de Dios. Imaginen que son parte de una gran familia que se remonta a miles de años atrás. Esta familia tiene una historia asombrosa que contar: una historia sobre el amor de Dios por todos nosotros. Así es la Iglesia Católica. Todos somos parte de la familia de Dios y tenemos una tarea importante: mantener vivo el mensaje de Dios y compartirlo con todos.
Entonces, ¿cómo hace esto la Iglesia? Veámoslo paso a paso:
1. La Biblia: Piensen en la Biblia como una carta de amor de Dios. Está llena de historias, lecciones y verdades que nos ayudan a entender el amor de Dios y cómo vivir una buena vida. Cuando leemos la Biblia, estamos escuchando a Dios hablarnos directamente. Intenten leer un pasaje corto de la Biblia cada día, por ejemplo, durante el desayuno. Incluso unos pocos versículos pueden darte algo en qué pensar durante todo el día.
2. La Tradición: Esto no se trata solo de costumbres antiguas. La Tradición de la Iglesia es como un río de sabiduría que fluye desde Jesús y los apóstoles hasta nosotros hoy. Nos ayuda a entender la Biblia y a vivir nuestra fe en el mundo actual. Por ejemplo, cuando celebramos la Misa, estamos participando en una tradición que se remonta a Jesús y la Última Cena. Nos conecta con cristianos a través del tiempo y el espacio.
3. Las Enseñanzas de la Iglesia: El Papa y los obispos tienen un papel especial en ayudarnos a entender el mensaje de Dios. Son como guías turísticos, ayudándonos a navegar nuestro viaje de fe y evitar giros equivocados. Cuando el Papa habla sobre cuidar el medio ambiente o ayudar a los pobres, nos está mostrando cómo aplicar nuestra fe a problemas del mundo real.
Así, la Biblia, la Tradición y las enseñanzas de la Iglesia trabajan juntas como las tres patas de un taburete. Se apoyan entre sí y nos dan una base estable para nuestra fe. Pero esto no se trata solo de aprender datos. El mensaje de Dios está destinado a cambiar nuestras vidas y ayudarnos a ser mejores personas. Aquí hay algunas formas en que podemos vivirlo:
o Amor en Acción: El mensaje de Dios trata todo sobre el amor. Podemos mostrar este amor ayudando a otros, ya sea siendo voluntarios en un banco de alimentos, visitando a un vecino solitario o simplemente siendo amables con alguien que está teniendo un mal día.
o Oración y Reflexión: Tomen tiempo cada día para hablar con Dios. No tiene que ser largo ni elegante. Solo compartan sus pensamientos y escuchen la guía de Dios en su corazón.
o Comunidad: Ser parte de una comunidad de iglesia nos ayuda a crecer en la fe. Asistan a Misa, únanse a un grupo de estudio bíblico o participen en actividades parroquiales. ¡No estamos destinados a hacer este viaje solos!
o Perdón: El amor de Dios se trata de perdón. Practiquen perdonar a otros y pedir perdón cuando cometan errores. No siempre es fácil, pero es una forma poderosa de vivir el mensaje de Dios.
o Compartir las Buenas Nuevas: No tengan miedo de hablar sobre su fe con otros. Compartan cómo el amor de Dios ha hecho una diferencia en sus vidas. A veces, sus acciones hablarán más fuerte que las palabras.
o Aprendizaje Continuo: Nuestra comprensión del mensaje de Dios siempre puede profundizarse. Sigan aprendiendo sobre su fe a través de libros, clases o recursos en línea. Cuanto más aprendamos, más podremos apreciar el asombroso amor de Dios.
o Cuidado de la Creación: Dios hizo este hermoso mundo y estamos destinados a cuidarlo. Actos simples como reciclar, ahorrar energía o apreciar la naturaleza pueden ser formas de honrar la creación de Dios.
Recuerden, vivir el mensaje de Dios no se trata de ser perfectos. Se trata de intentar lo mejor cada día para amar a Dios y a los demás. Podemos cometer errores, pero el amor de Dios siempre está ahí para levantarnos y ayudarnos a seguir adelante.
Al mantener vivo el mensaje de Dios de estas maneras, nos convertimos en parte de algo más grande que nosotros mismos. Nos unimos a innumerables personas, pasadas y presentes, en compartir la historia más grande jamás contada: la historia del amor infinito de Dios por todas las personas. ¡Y eso es algo bastante asombroso de lo que ser parte!
